Kindergarten Supply List

Wondering if the kindergarten supply list you received from your teacher’s school is realistic? With the cost of everything going up, up, up we have a complete list of what your child needs vs what you may want to give them (but definitely do not have to).

Kindergarten supplies your kindergartner NEEDS:

1. Backpack
2. Lunchbox
3. Pencil box or pouch
4. Pencils
5. Erasers
6. Crayons
7. Washable markers
8. Glue sticks
9. Scissors (safety)
10. Pocket folders
11. Wide-ruled notebook or composition book
12. Change of clothes (accidents/emergencies)

Teachers frequently ask for wipes and tissues. These are important for the health and safety of your child. Buying them will get you on the good side of the teacher.

Of course – below are a list of wants that are considered extras. These are great if your child is a little bit nervous about going to school or if you just want to give them a little something extra to get them excited.

Kindergarten Supply List your child may WANT but don’t necessarily need:

1. Stickers for personalizing items
2. Fun pencil toppers
3. Decorative erasers
4. A small toy or stuffed animal for comfort during transition times
5. Water bottle with a favorite character or design
6. Reusable snack bags or containers
7. Personalized name labels for belongings

Remember at the end of the year the teachers frequently keep the left overs. Some teachers put all the pencils in a box at the beginning of the year. If they don’t – they frequently send home the leftover supplies. Don’t expect to get tissues or wipes though – they are frequently used for the next year’s class.

Good luck! Follow the list and you will be prepared.
