What are First Grade Sight Words?
First Grade Sight words or grade one sight words, as they are also called, are the most frequently used words in the English language. This first grade worksheet includes the 41 sight words in alphabetical order.
Sight words, often also called high frequency sight words, are commonly used words that young children are encouraged to memorize as a whole by sight, so that they can automatically recognize these words in print without having to use any strategies to decode.
These are the words like ‘again’, ‘from’, ‘him’, ‘how’, and so on. They are usually small, and easily recognized, and the spelling of these words is not always straightforward in regard to how they sound.
How to Teach Sight Words?
There are many ways to teach sight words, but one effective method is using flashcards or other visual aids to help students recognize and memorize common words.
