The Rules of Capitalization

The rules of capitalization have a big impact on how we communicate. Not only does  getting them right make a difference, it is extremely important. Why is it important?  Clear writing is powerful writing.

For ex. the sentence:

“I went for a run with Susan.” vs. “i went for a Run with susan.”

Reading the sentence you can see the errors. Picture sending out a resume with capitalization all over the place – not the best way to make a first impression, right?

Capitalization helps to point the reader in the right direction, showing them where sentences begin, highlighting names and places, and signaling important titles. Without these signs, our writing can become a confusing mess, making it tough for anyone to understand what we’re trying to say.
